How take pictures under normal conditions ?

Hello,

I want to not how You take pictures under normal weather conditions ?

Background: I look for a camera ( DSLR ) for taking pictures in rain forest with high humidity and possibilty of rain. The camera will hit in a bag ( e.g. loewe Pro ). But it is possible is touching camera with wet hands.

From Nikon I got the message cameras used
until humidy of 85 %
temperatur 0 - 40 Centigrad ( 32 - 104 Fahrenheid )

I suppose humidity in rainforests will be higher than 85 %.
Even the air temperature is lower the 40 Centigrads, most pictures was taken under sunny condition. So the camera will warm up over 40 Centigrads ( solar radiation ).
( even during skiing the temperatur can reach over 25 centigrads - 77 Fahrenheid, but the air temperature is much lower )

How managed the people in warmer areas taking pictures ?
Areas like southern California, Arizona or we have a forum member from Kuwait.

Which cameras tested under rainforest conditions ?

Best regards
Dieter

Dieter,
Firstly, take a look at the high end olympus E3 camera which is labeled as weatherproof (I do not have a dSLR, so not talking from personal experience there). Combine that with a 2x crop factor, and you could have a strong kit.

Secondly, even if it is not a dSLR, I have an old nikon cp4500. I live on a tropical island with rainforest, our home does not have AC, even though it is below 85% humidity inside most of the time. That camera has been with me in the rainforest plenty of times, light drizzle has hit it several times, but I cannot remember taking it out with truly wet hands. The camera has spent four years mostly under those conditions (+ traveling to other places including rainforest in Panama), it has taken more than 10000 images, and it still works. So in other words, your camera of choise may well work even if you exceed the recommended conditions.

I use my FZ-7, D80 and D300 in the rainforest, and in the rain. They get a little wet, but I try to keep the water out of the seams, buttons and dials. I go through lots of gallon ziplock bags trying to keep them dry. :) I did have one lens get fungus, but fortunately it was my cheap lens. I've dropped everything hard at least once. No major casualties yet.

I'm sure these conditions invalidate my warranties, but that's the price of taking photos in the wilderness.
