Transporting a big lens and Tripod

My local patch is mainly along the Tarka trail in North Devon which consists of over 20 miles of reclaimed railway track and runs adjacent to the Rivers Taw and Torridge for most of the time.
Got to thinking about how I could transport a large lens (say 500mm f4 + tripod) and thought about a Golf trolley or the likes – has anyone seen or heard of kit being transported in this way?
BTW I know there are people who would carry this lens and even handhold (Nigel Blake even hand holds his 600mm f4 ) but I am a 63 year old weakling so that is out of the question.

I have seen Carp fishermen with all their gear loaded onto trolleys similar to golf trolleys. No reason why they can`t be used for other equipment as far as I can see.

personally I'd be wary of putting your gear in a 'golf trolley'... I'd be worried that the lens elements may get shaken out of position. I may be wrong to worry, but I certainly would not put my gear in a trolley unless it had excellent suspension.
