I took delivery of my Pre-ordered 40D on Friday and have been on the WE site today to see that it has already been reduced by £100 and purchasers now get a Sandisk Extreme III 2GB card too!

I walked into Jessops in Newcastle this evening, asked if they had any 40Ds in "just for a look", and walked out with one under my arm!
Jessops' price was £839, so I pointed over the road, said "Jacobs is doing it for £799..." and got it for that price!
No free Sandisk though - but I'm OK with that.
Funny, I'd only gone into town to see if I could get a newly-released CD!
First impressions of the camera, after a bit of playing in the house, are very positive...

Having virtually made up my mind about the 30D, I am now wondering about the benefits of the 40D.
So ... now you have a spare 30D ...
(just joking!)
Those extra pixels, the dust vibrator, the snazzy menu set-up, sRAW, DIGIC III, added AF variety, expanded ISO (why not auto ISO mode I wonder?), interchangeable screens, *pauses for breath*, motor mirror up, CF door warning, extra 1.5 fps, AF ON button, more buttons on the back to play with, LIVE view, etcetera, etcetara ... will keep you busy for a while. We do however expect a comparison!
